Goodbye Blacky

This week I wanted to come back to my blog
with good news, but this morning Blacky
our dog passed away.He lived with us an
year and a half after we found him in the country.
He was old , had problems for walking and he was
without an eye but he menaged to give love to
all of us and we tried to give him a house and
all our love.
This is a message for everyone:

I am so sorry for your loss :(
It's good to read that the last months of his life he was with caring and loving people.

Goodbye Blacky, you won't be forgotten.

I am really sorry Monica to hear about your sweet little dog.
It is lovely to hear that Blacky had a nice home with you in his old age and he retired comfortably.
Much love to you. I know how upsetting it is when you loose a dear friend.
Take care.

Monica,

Oh dear, this made me cry:( It so hard to lose someone as precious as he seemed to be.

What is wonderful is that he was able to spend the last years of his life surrounded by love and affection. That is the best gift anyone can give. It does not get any easier, Sometimes I still mourn my cat who died over 15 years ago. But I think it gets easier to think through when the memories come back. Not sure if that makes sense!

R.I.P. Blacky

Oh che triste notizia, mi dispiace tantissimo !
... anche vecchietti e un pò acciaccati sono sempre adorabili e dei gran dispensatori di amore, loro che chiedono in cambio così poco.

Dearest Monica and Andrea,

I am so sorry to hear about Blacky. He looks like he was a very gentle and loving dog. It warms my heart to know that you gave him so much happiness while he was with you. It's always hard to lose a loving companion. I still mourn the loss of my dog from several years ago.

Thank you, also, for the kind and thoughtful message you left for me. Your words and wishes brought me comfort and hope and have helped me heal. Thank you for your friendship.

Congratulations on publishing your adorable art! The little boy's expression is just adorable.

xoxo

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog.

You did a wonderful thing taking in a homeless animal and caring for it during its final days.

Growing up my Dad brought home a puppy for me, but when it wet the kitchen floor, my Mother quickly had it locked in the basement. The dog disappeared after a week because it also wet and dirtied the papers on the basement floor and so when I was young, I never knew the responsibility you had to have or the love that an animal could give. I also never knew the heartbreak it could cause when it died.

Years later, I adopted a homeless almost all black dog and he was also named Blackie when my girlfriend wouldn't let me name him Snowball. I wasn't prepared for the pain and I cried when he died of cancer several years later.

In a bad divorce and a depression, I now regret that I did not get another dog immediately but recently, I remarried and have had two wonderful dogs added to my life.

When the first one, an Irish setter, died of cancer, my wife was on the Internet every day looking for a replacement. She found it at the local animal shelter and it has been a part of my life ever since.

I doubt I could ever live another day without a dog. They are always there for you and unlike humans, they never lie, cheat or steal.
I hope you adopt another one soon.

Also, congratulations on the one year anniversary of your blog. I have written over 5000 blogs and frankly, it turns into a labor of love.

You would NEVER know it from my name, Stanley, but I am half Italian and I'm very sorry to say that I have never visited Italy.

I'm so sorry about Blacky. What a kind heart you had to take him in and give him a wonderful life for his remaining days.

Here is something for you:

Inscription on the Monument of a Newfoundland Dog
by
Lord Byron

Near this spot are deposited the remains of one who
possessed Beauty without Vanity,
Strength without Insolence,
Courage without Ferocity,
and all the Virtues of Man,
without his Vices.
This Praise, which would be unmeaning
Flattery if inscribed over human
ashes is but a just tribute to the Memory
of Boatswain, a Dog.
